Brazilian fighters win big in first quarter of UFC's Twitter bonus program

The UFC earlier this year announced a new policy regarding social media site Twitter, revealing a quarterly bonus structure where fighters could earn $5,000 bonuses for "most followers," "biggest percentage growth in followers," and "most creative Tweets." Fighters were separated into four different levels depending on the amount of followers they already had, with bonuses for each category in each of the different levels.

The UFC on Tuesday revealed the first winners in the program, and a number of Brazilian fighters came up big.

Anderson Silva (@SpiderAnderson), Antonio Rodrgio Nogueira (@MinotauroMMA), and Demian Maia (@DemianMaia) each took home bonuses in two categories, "most followers" and "biggest percentage growth in followers," while Strikeforce women's champ Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (@CrisCyborg) earned a bonus for "most followers" and Paulo Thiago (@PauloThiagoMMA) earned the other bonus for "biggest percentage growth in followers."

All four bonuses for "most creative Tweets" went to non-Brazilians, however, with Joseph Benavidez (@JoeB135), Forrest Griffin (@ForrestGriffin), Ben Henderson (@SmoothOne155), and Joe Lauzon (@JoeLauzon) each earning the extra $5,000.
